Multi Element Behaviour Support
Multi-Element Behaviour Support (MEBS) is a framework for providing positive behavior support
to individuals who exhibit behaviours of concern. MEBS is a collaborative approach that focuses on proactive strategies like ecological adaptations and skills building, along with non-aversive reactive strategies for de-escalation and safe responses.
Here is a short video on Positive Behaviour Support
Positive Behaviour Support
What really works when it comes to de-escalating anxious, hostile, or challenging behaviour?
How you respond to the behaviour is often the key to defusing it. Behaviour Support helps parents, family members, teachers and others deal with challenging behaviour in a way that assists the participant to stay calm, manage their stress, and handle difficult situations.
Positive Behaviour Support is increasingly the preferred approach of behaviour support in Australia and internationally. It has emerged from the disability rights movement and is grounded in principles of person-centered practice that seek to protect and give expression to a person’s human rights.
PBS is focused on enhancing quality of life through systems change (environmental redesign) and educational methods, and is underpinned by person-centered values (Horner et al., 1990), the science of applied behaviour analysis (Carr et al., 2002), and other evidence-based approaches. Another key goal of PBS, is to eliminate RESTRICTIVE PRACTICES.
At Engaged Support Services, our role is consultative, we investigate, assess, gather information, and observe, to identify the function of challenging behaviour that an individual may be engaging in to get their needs and wants met.

All participant information is kept confidential within the NDIS commissions guidelines, however, As an NDIS registered provider approved to deliver Therapy, Specialist Behaviour Support and Early Childhood Intervention under the NDIS, we have reporting obligations.
We also provide information to the NDIS on any plans that contain restrictive practices.
Restrictive practice means any practice or intervention that has the effect of restricting the rights or freedom of movement of a person with disability. To do this, we will work with any other implementing NDIS providers, to ensure good data collection methods are in place.
